Terms of Service

These Terms explain what you're agreeing to when you use Mehvara, whether you're a client booking a mehendi artist or an artist running your business on the platform.

Last updated: September 28, 2026

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By creating an account, browsing artist profiles, requesting a booking, or otherwise using the Mehvara website or services (together, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you are using Mehvara on behalf of a business (for example, as a mehendi artist registering your business), you confirm you have the authority to bind that business to these Terms.

These Terms apply to everyone who uses Mehvara: clients booking a mehendi artist and artists offering their services through the platform.

When you register as an artist, or request a booking from an artist's profile, we ask you to confirm that you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy by ticking a box. We keep a record of when you did and which version you agreed to.

2. What Mehvara Is

Mehvara is an online marketplace based in Sri Lanka that connects independent mehendi (henna) artists with clients looking to book their services. Through Mehvara, clients can browse artist portfolios, check availability and request bookings; artists can showcase their work, manage bookings, send quotations and invoices, and collect reviews.

Mehvara is a venue for artists and clients to find each other and manage the paperwork around a booking. It is not itself a party to the mehendi service performed, and (except where stated otherwise) is not a party to any payment made between an artist and a client. Where design or delivery details need to be discussed further, Mehvara may hand you off to WhatsApp to continue that conversation directly with the other party.

Mehvara is offered today for the mehendi (henna) category in Sri Lanka. We may extend the Service to other beauty specialties or regions in the future.

3. Accounts

Clients do not need to create a traditional account. Requesting a booking asks for your name, phone number and email. To view or manage your bookings, you sign in with your email address and a one-time code we send to it, so you are responsible for keeping access to that email account secure. If an artist added your booking with only your phone number, they can send you a one-time setup link so you can add and verify your email.

Artists register a business account using an email address and password, and go through a verification step (see Section 8) before they can sign in and their public profile goes live. You're responsible for keeping your login details confidential, for all activity under your account, and for keeping your business, pricing and contact information accurate and current.

4. Bookings, Quotations & Cancellations

Every booking starts as a booking request, either sent by a client through an artist's profile or logged by the artist after a conversation elsewhere. The artist can then send a quotation with itemized pricing. A quotation is not a confirmed booking: a client accepting a quotation lets the artist confirm the booking, and the booking is only confirmed once the artist does so. Each quotation is open for a limited time, shown on the quotation, and never past the event date; once it expires it can't be accepted, though the artist may reopen it or send a new one. An artist may also withdraw or delete a quotation the client hasn't replied to.

Both parties are responsible for agreeing on the details that matter (date, time, location, service and price) before a booking is confirmed. Mehvara displays the information each party provides but does not verify appointment details, artist availability, or a client's ability to pay on either party's behalf.

Cancellation terms (including whether a deposit is returned) are between the artist and client and may vary by artist. Mehvara does not set or enforce a platform-wide cancellation policy today. If an artist requests a deposit to confirm a quotation, see Section 5 for how that works.

5. Payments & Deposits

Mehvara does not process payments. Any amount owed for a mehendi service, whether full payment, a deposit or anything else, is paid directly between the client and the artist, using whatever method they agree on (bank transfer, cash or similar). Mehvara is not a party to that payment, does not hold funds on behalf of either party, and does not guarantee that a payment will be made, refunded, or is accurate.

Where an artist requests a deposit to confirm a quotation, Mehvara's role is limited to letting the client upload proof of that payment (amount, reference and receipt) and letting the artist mark it as verified. This is a recordkeeping convenience only. Mehvara does not confirm with any bank or payment provider that the deposit was actually received, and is not responsible for a dispute over whether it was paid, its amount, or its return.

Mehvara currently takes no commission or fee on bookings between artists and clients.

6. Subscription & Billing (Artists)

Mehvara offers artists a Free plan and a paid Pro plan. The Free plan includes the core tools needed to run a business on Mehvara at no cost: a public profile and portfolio, booking capture, calendar, quotations and invoices, reviews, and WhatsApp handoff. The Pro plan costs LKR 3,000 per month and additionally includes deposit protection on quotations, earnings and payments dashboard, more portfolio space and team and employees. The features included in Pro may change as we add to it, and we'll describe what's current on our Pricing page.

Because Mehvara does not yet have an automated payment gateway, upgrading to Pro today is a manual process: you submit a request, we share payment instructions, and your account is upgraded once payment is confirmed. You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time by contacting us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for, and we do not provide partial-period refunds unless required by law.

7. User Content & Conduct

"User Content" means anything you upload or post to Mehvara: portfolio photos and designs, business profile information, and reviews. You retain ownership of your User Content, but by posting it you grant Mehvara a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce and distribute it as part of operating the Service (for example, showing your portfolio on your public profile and in the Designs gallery). You confirm you have the right to post what you upload, so don't post a design or photo you don't have the rights to use.

Reviews are tied to a specific completed booking and reflect the reviewing client's real experience. Artists may reply to a review but may not edit or delete a client's review.

You agree not to use Mehvara to: post false, misleading or infringing content; harass, discriminate against, or defraud another user; attempt to get around the verification or account-security features of the Service; or use the Service for any purpose other than legitimately booking or providing mehendi services.

We may hide or remove content that breaks these Terms, such as a fake review or a design posted without permission.

8. Artist Verification & Responsibilities

New artist accounts go through a verification step before they can sign in and their public profile goes live. Verification helps establish that an artist is a real, reachable business, but it is not a guarantee or endorsement by Mehvara of the quality, safety or outcome of any artist's work, and Mehvara does not employ or supervise any artist listed on the platform.

As an artist, you're responsible for the accuracy of your listed pricing, availability and service descriptions; for honoring bookings you confirm; for the quality and safety of the mehendi services you provide (including using safe, appropriate materials); and for complying with any licenses or regulations that apply to your business in your area.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

Mehvara provides a platform to connect artists and clients. We do not perform mehendi services and are not responsible for the quality, timeliness, safety or outcome of any service booked through the Service, or for any payment or deposit made between an artist and a client. Disputes about a booking, a service rendered or a payment are between the artist and the client. Mehvara is not a mediator or guarantor of either.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Mehvara and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or for any loss connected to a booking, service or payment between users. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Sri Lankan law.

10. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, provides false information, is used fraudulently, or poses a risk to other users, with notice where reasonably possible. You may stop using the Service, or ask us to close your account, at any time.

Suspending or terminating an account doesn't cancel a booking that's already confirmed between an artist and a client; the two parties are responsible for resolving that directly.

11. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.

Mehvara is not a party to, and does not mediate or arbitrate, disputes between an artist and a client over a booking, a service rendered or a payment. Those are between the two of you to resolve.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time as Mehvara grows, for example as we add payment processing, new regions or new features. We'll post the updated Terms here with a new "Last updated" date, and for material changes we'll try to let you know directly (for example, by WhatsApp or email). Continuing to use Mehvara after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
